STgen Bio has announced that they have obtained certifications for Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS), ‘ISO 45001’, and Environmental Management System (EMS), ‘ISO 14001’, from the British Standards Institution (BSI).
ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 are international standards for OHSMS and EMS, respectively, developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). These certifications are given to organizations that systematically manage and prevent industrial accidents and environmental problems.
STgen Bio is a subsidiary of Dong-A Socio Holdings and operates as a contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) for biopharmaceuticals. Earlier this year, the company established a dedicated task force (TF) to set up environmental, health, and safety (EHS) management standards and revise its regulations and systems. Since then, the company has evaluated site specific risks, and established an EHS operating committee that collects internal opinions every quarter.
STgen Bio intends to create a plan to receive certification for the Energy Management System, 'ISO 50001', and the Anti-Bribery Management System, 'ISO 37001', next year. A company official stated that they "will not only work to reduce waste and energy consumption, but also establish preventive measures for safety and health accidents, improve the work environment, and enhance reliability".
Kyung Eun Choi, CEO of STgen Bio said, "Obtaining both ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certifications at a time when ESG management for CDMO companies is becoming increasingly important globally, signifies the recognition that our company's health, safety, and environmental management systems has been advanced".
